Escanaba in da Moonlight

When the Soady clan reunites for the opening day of deer season at the family’s Michigan Upper Peninsula camp, Reuben Soady brings with him the infamous reputation of being the oldest Soady in the history of the Soady’s never to bag a buck. In a hunting story to beat all hunting stories, Reuben tries a variety of methods to change his luck including drinking potions, chanting prayers, and covering himself in unpleasant smells to mask his scent. The play explores themes of family tradition, hunting, and manly pride, and includes elements of humor, horror, and heart.
